Can anybody advise about Power Washing and De-Greasing my Engine and surrounding components.

I have read so many article on web but would rather ask 406 owners club, for instance:

what parts need covering with plastic bag?
which is best method, power wash?
garden hose and good de-grease agent?

and can anybody recommend a de-greaser?

Simple answer is "don't". You'll end up with all sorts of electrical issues

I ran a tap over a 1.4 Megane a couple of months ago. The water ran down into the spark plugs and Hey Presto! 3 cylinder megane. Thank fook it wasn't my 6

actually i was thinking more along the lines of the usual long-term issues you get from pressure washing such as vapour getting into the normally covered connectors and causing them to rust. Normally the connectors are way down the list of suspicions when something goes wrong, so diagnostics can be difficult and very expensive if you go to a less reputable garage (such as a Peugeot dealer...)

Also a car with a pressure/steam cleaned engine bay is a lot harder to sell - clued up potential buyers will be aware of the above and they'll also wonder *why* it's been cleaned - what are they trying to hide, etc

I've followed the cleaning process exactly not so long back and it worked a treat, but notice they recommend using kitchen foil, not plastic bags, if you're thorough you wont have any problems.
