I replaced my crank shaft pulley on my x-reg, 110, last November. But ive noticed during very cold frosty weather (usually at start up), that its making a metal clicking sound, bit like the old one did. I dont understand why it should do this when its only a few months old, it was an original Peugeot part.
could it be that the belt was tensioned incorrectly?
Could be something else and not that pulley.
Wouldnt have thought a peugeot part would go that quick. We all know pugs are bad, but surely not that bad.
I recently had my Crankshaft pulley replaced on my D9 2000 Hdi 406 Saloon 90bhp. I managed to get an original part as well from Ebay from a Peugeot Dealer in Norfolk! It was £99 including delivery and £50 for labour charges at a local "Mr Tyre" garage to fit it. It had been making a noise for a good 6000 miles before i worked out what it was. the noise levels go up and down and mine had a strip of metal fall out the insides of it about 3000 miles ago! The new Peugeot pulley seemed to have a white paint spray around the outside where the belt runs. Does anyone else have this? And does this mean it is the "uprated pulley design" mk2 pulley i read about???
I would have thought that with yours, the noise will come and go and wont be much to worry about, but should last you 100k miles. mine did 112k before shaking itself so loud it was as noisey as dragging a broken exhaust along the road!!!!
Even the HDI's are a little more noisy starting in cold wheather, it's normal( and nothing compared to the XUD's), as long as the noise level is normal after 5 minutes running I wouln't worry about it.
