hi newbee and need help

hi i have just bought a p reg 406 1.9td sometimes the indicator light on the dash works sometimes not
sometimes the speedo works other times i have to tap the dash

also are the headlights suppose to stay on when i put my full beam on i didnt think they would

can anybody help e with any of this please. :supafrisk: :supafrisk: :shock: :shock: :oops: :oops:

Hiya mate, welcome to the club. :D

There's loads of info on here about dodgy connections on the instrument panel, usually dry joints on the PCB. Use the search box on the top right of the page... :wink:

Headlights, yup the dips stay on with the main beams because the 406 uses separate bulbs for dips and mains. 8) If you had a lesser car with one dual filament bulb they'd go off :oops: :mrgreen:

I've had to resolder two different 406 dash clusters, similar faults as yours and the speedo getting stuck at 40mph :roll:
1996 406 1.8LX Got a bad case of hydro lock!
1996 406 Executive 2.0 Turbo XU10J2TE No longer hangin' on in there :(

Idd, mine'd stick at 38, making the bastardish speed cameras of Southampton just that bit more fun to negotiate :)
