Biodiesel at Morrisons - anyone tried it?

Discovered this article and a few other related items which indicate Morrisons are selling B30 biodiesel widely and Peugeot approve its use in HDi engines.
I've seen 1.9TDs running on mixed veg oil/mineral diesel and they seemed quieter, smoother and perhaps a bit more powerful, so I'm tempted to give it a go.
Freely admit I'd prefer not to be a pioneer, so has anyone tried it? thought about it?

Just discovered this very thing not five days ago. Was going to see about it next time I fill up (takes me bleedin' forever to get through a tank of fuel, damned 50mpg )

If it's a 1.9 it's got a Bosch and as I understand it, those things will pump more or less anything short of residual fuel

Wonder if I could convert it to run on residual fuel?

I'm sure you're right with a TD, I was wondering if anyone's tried it in a HDi

Doubt if - but filtered waste veg oil is free & legal

I used to run the wife's 806 HDI on home made biodiesel with no problems up to B100, it actualy ran bettor with more power and smoother (B100 = 100% bio, B30 = 30% bio 70% diesel).
Morisons bio is made from 15% new oil and 15% used oil.

If one were looking for an example of a respected pillar of our community, well-placed to test something on behalf of the club, then I can think of no better than the Honourable Member for Market Harborough.....

My understanding is that Biodiesel is an entirely different thing to any variant of fuel from waste vegetable oil.

Any sort of waste oil based fuel is likely to cause issues to modern diesel (mid 80s onwards) fuel pumps, fuel lines and the like. Things can be done to get around that, but you cannot go putting waste oil straight into a modern diesel.

Biodiesel is just some sort of more environmentally friendly blend of normal diesel. There is no way on earth a supermarket would be selling it on a normal forecourt unless they were absolutely sure it was safe for every vehicle. The lawsuits would be many, and nasty otherwise.

On a similar note - I got my Briggs & Stratton powered rotary mower to run on a mixture of Barbeque lighting fluid and WD40 last year the knocking noise was a bit weird, and the smell, but it was worth it I thought just or the experiment (Mrs Welly was out shopping )

Biodiesel is made from veg oil (waste or new) and has nothing to do with normal diesel,
bio is veg oil mixed with methanol and Naoh or KOH (in the right quontaties), not to be mixed up with filtered veg oil (the 1.9td's run well on this) I know as I've now made about 1000L of the stuff all from waste oil collected for free so it costs me about 16ppl and I have been running my cars on it with no problems.

Don't do what my Friend did on his VW Polo SDi and gradually increase the mix of "Crisp n Dry" (I kid you not) untill it blows all the seals in the fuel pump (£300.00 from a scrapper and a huuuuuuge headache with the imobiliser etc)

I've just turned round and told her no more throwing away old oil. Time to build me a filtration unit. Possibly with a built-in clock and AM radio...

Go for it swiss, your 1.9 will love it
Build yourself a filtration unit so you can heat to 60c, stand for two days for any water to drop out, drain the water off, then filter through 80 > 50 > 20 > 10 > 1 micron filters (standard water filters will do fine) then pop it in the tank. Water filters can be got from "printer8" on the veggie site for a very good price

WARNING do not do this with an HDI or a 2.1 unless you have very deep pockets.
