Re: engine mount
It's a pretty easy job Dave, just make sure you've got a jack under the sump to take the weight when you unbolt the mount!

Re: engine mount
You didn't say what engine it is
Generally that mount isn't difficult to change. Chances are the bit that's shot is the pear-shaped bit of rubber that goes into the body. It's only about £25 from EuroCarParts or any other factor really. You MUST have a trolley jack and lump of wood though.
1. Put the wood on top of the trolley jack and raise it up to the bottom of the sump. Lift the sump about half an inch
2. Unbolt the mount bracket and remove
3. To remove the pear-shaped bit, you'll see 3 gaps in a circular bit. Get a big screwdriver in one of these (the blunter the better) and hammer it around anti-clockwise. It'll be stiff but after half a turn it should move
4. Screw the new mount in
5. Try to put the old mounting bracket back on. This will be tricky because everything's moved. You may need to hammer it on, fiddle with the jack height, heave the engine about or perform voodoo...
6. Lower the jack
7. Beer!

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Yes I did all of these, took one of my sons hotwheels and stabbed it with a needle in frustration!mjb wrote:You may need to hammer it on, fiddle with the jack height, heave the engine about or perform voodoo...

Ok, I didn't have to resort to voodoo!
