hi!

can anyone tell me, where can i find the thermostat on this engine?

is it here?

Image

because i unmounted the hose and inside it was empty... is it there (or was, and fell apart and stuck in the radiator) or simply i'm searching on the wrong place?

No, it's not there!

But just above there is a fuel filter with a blue and a brown plug on it. The blue is the temp sensor for the dashboard and the brown one is the temp sensor for the fans.

Or for the correct answer, it's behind, at the bottom of the engine where the bottom radiator hose goes to the engine.

thanks a lot! :)

in the service manual (not a Haynes 96-99, but another one 96-04) , that i have, are pictures of the thermostat position only of HDi and petrol engines, and a line under the pictures, that on each diesel model, the thermostat can be found on the upper left side of the cylinder head... so i didn't search under the car... so the book is a piece of c...

Why drain the engine block when the stat housing is at the bottom of the system, just loosen the bolts slowly but not with your head directly underneath
Got to do mine soon (wont go above 70c) so let me know how you get on with bleeding the system afterwards.
