Hi I'm looking to get myself a newer HDi estate and was only considering a 110 hp until I got to drive a 90 hp today and was quite surprised how responsive it was
The dealer I was chatting to told me that quite a lot of the later 406s have a FAP filter fitted,up until today I understood it was only the 2.2 136 hp that had it fitted
Does anybody know ?
Any advice would be greatly received
Also if anyone has a good condition estate for sale please get in touch
Steve

Re: FAP filter
How about an extremely expensive LHD?
Later 2.0 HDi 110s are meant to have them but I don't think we've seen one on here yet. Mine's an '04 yet it doesn't have a FAP
You're right about the 2.2 tho, they all seem to have them

Re: FAP filter
I was wondering that, I suppose you could grovel about under the car and try and spot the FAP, looks like they come in two halfs - front FAP/back cat, spot the eolys tank (not sure if that's easy tho) or look out for the eolys filler connection. Potentially, there's a lass on here having a real nightmare with hers but other people are more lucky. All cars with them can have issues, best avoided I reckon. Also (and i think i know the answer to this from your sad face) are they a real nightmare if you have one ??

Re: FAP filter
The Cat / FAP assembly is longer than the std cat, (about 700mm O/A) & has a perforated heat shield around it. There are pipes for the differential pressure sensor upstream & downstream of it. The additive tank is attached to the side of the fuel tank & there is no filler as such - I believe it's part of the top-up kit.
AFAIK all 2.2's have the system. The VIN code has 4HX, (I think), as characters 6 - 8 if a FAP is fitted.
ServiceBox, (when it was working), definetly quoted 110's with & without FAP
Understand people's concerns about the system, but I believe the 2.2's worth it as it's quicker & smoother - time will tell if I regret it or not. I wouldn't buy a 110 with the FAP system as you get added complexitiy for no advantage. At least one set of numbers I've seen say it drops the torque of a 110 down to that of a 90 - don't know if that's fact or typo.
