PLEASE HELP Sunroof problem

Post by autorazzo »

With the weather being nice today i decided to open the sunroof but when in the middle of opening the motor started clicking and come off it's runners. I now have bits of linkages and brackets etc. Because the sunroof mechanism is hidden away my question is.

Can you drop the full unit?
Does anyone have or know where i can get pics?

Due to all the bits and pieces i am confused on putting back together are there any exploded view assembly instructions

Please help my sunroof is partially open!!!! :(

Pop the overhead console panel off and unscrew the two screws underneath. Remove the bit they were holding down (or up, I suppose). You'll be able to access a bit to wind the roof by hand (well, you'll need a windy tool of some sort unless you have torx fingers).

Hopefully it's just the motor shot and not the mechanism itself. If the guides/carriers are knackered to the point of the thing being jammed, you'd best get thee to a stealer before it rains :(

It sounds a bit more complicated than just the motor packed up, I've not seen any diagram apart from the one on Service Box and I don't think that'll do you any favours as it's just the parts, not their relationship to each other. Haynes says leave it alone  which is also most helpful. I dunno, I think I'd need to see it to make any worthwhile suggestions.

Basically the parts cane off in my hand, i have 2 small brackets (1 for each side) and a plastic thing with a thin bar attached (Goes onto a runner). The pieces that i have dont appear to be broken but more likely got jammed and sprung out of the catches, I can try and post pics of the bit i have got. I have a feeling that no matter what i may have tp pull down the roof lining to get access.

Thanks for that, that's worth considering. The only thing is i live near inverness so courier would be the only option i think.

Thanks, Have done that now, only thing is the back of the glass is sitting low and has a slight gap.
The motor is fine as i can hear, it's just all the components have came off the mechanism

That would be great steve_earwig

I would like to see where the silver metal rod goes to on the drivers side of the window ( can be seen when the back of window is up) The one on the passenger side is still intact but appears to sit in a different position to the other side.

Here you go:

The other side looks just the same, I'm not sure if that's any good to you but I couldn't find a way of getting the camera in there to show behind.
