The condenser (radiator) at the front is favourite, these fail with reliable accuracy at 7/8 years also check the pipework as it comes up under the battery and also in front of the condenser - check for green oil at the bracket positions.

Oh hang on, you said the pressure is fine.....erm, you could check the wiring to the low pressure switch on top of the condenser left hand side, this can be a bad connection and disables the compressor clutch.

The BSi unit decides whether or not to allow the a/c to run but lets look at other, simpler, stuff first eh?

Some people frigg up a wire to engage the compressor clutch manually (to check it works) but I cannot advise how to actually do this I'm affraid.

As welly says check compressor is engaging when you turn on a/c also
check the relay thingy whatever they are called at front of radiator

If the pressure is good then it's either a wiring fault or compressor/pressure switch/relay.
I've just got mine back from an aircon service, turns out the gas was leaking from the filler valve, the system was completely empty!!
Still, nice icy cold air again :cheesy:

Worth checking your temp gauge is working, the aircon uses this to decide to engage,

If not then temp sender is faulty or plugs under drivers carpet maybe corroded

where is the aircon temp sensor?

Surely it would be overridden if i just put the aircon on manual rather than auto?

cheers

The temp sensor I am talking about is the water temp which is used for the temp gauge on the dash and ECU

Its on the side of the thermostat housing above the gearbox. Removing the airfilter helps to see it

A green sensor with two wires
