Hi all. A misfire has been diagnosed as a faulty coil on cylinder No. 5 which is in the rear bank. I ordered new coils for each of the rear bank cylinders, these have arrived but the Pug agents can't do the job for a week. The car is an early 2004 V6 (about the last one made).
How difficult is it to access the rear bank to change coils and spark plugs? Does one get at it from underneath, or above? Any advice?

I don't know how different the later ES9J4S is to the earlier engine, but in the earlier you need an inlet manifold gasket from the dealers. Then you "just" (not had chance to do it myself...) unplug/disconnect everything from the manifold and unbolt it to gain access to the cylinders, using the new gasket when you put it back together

The job is actually quite easy, I discovered. The seven bolts holding the inlet manifold are loosened and the throttle body (name?) seperated from the manifold. Do not do, as I did: keeping the throttle body attached to the manifold, and loosened the air intake into the throttle body. That way I broke a (manifold ?) vacuum pipe leading into the throttle body which I still have to repair or replace....
