50 litre tank?!

Hi,

I've mentioned this in one of my other posts, but thought I'd make the subject title more relevant.

Yesterday I put 33 litres of petrol into my 406 1.8 ( £30.00 ), then I decided to go get some Redex, this stated to have around 50 litres
of fuel in the tank before using, so I went back to the petrol station and put some more fuel in, to my surprise, I could only get
another 17 litres in the fuel tank??? Now, when I originally put the 33 litres in earlier, my car was on empty, the light had been on for about 8 miles.

I thought these cars had 70 litre tanks? Not sure what is going on here?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Regards,
Steve

You can usually get another 10-15 litres in after the pump clicks off, and if you've got a D8 the fuel light comes on about 10-15 litres from empty. When I had a D8 I wouldn't fill it up until the needle stopped moving when you turned the key - a long time after the light comes on

Then again, no two fuel level senders are exactly the same - maybe you should experiment with a can of diesel in your boot...

Don't believe your fuel gauge, they all tell lies. Well mine does!
