Keypads and transponders

Hey y'all...

Why did some 406's come with Keypads and some had transponders in the keys? I have a 2.0 turbo (Or tubby or whatever you cool kids call it) and it doesn't have a keypad. A friend of mine has the same but his has a keypad (Both R Reg) In my ultimate wisdom, I forgot to unlock the ecu before I removed the engine and now I have one locked ECU!

I thought I could be a clever bugger and remove the transponder from my key and stick it in his, but there isn't one in his key so I'm up a gum tree without a paddle... Any ideas?

Peace out,
Dan

Find thee a thread about trying to get remote locking working. There's much debate concerning transponders and related gubbinz.

The first batch of D8s indeed had keypad immobilisers, after which they were built with a transponder in the key.

If you're a millionaire, you can always get your local stealer to fix it for you :)

Thanks again,
Dan
