Minor Spring Irritation

hi,

I got my Pi springs fitted to the 406 and the improvement its unbelievable, the handling is much improved and the ride compared with some of the cars i've had is nowhere near what id describe as harsh - even speed humps arent a problem.

BUT on the last turn of the steering wheel to hit full lock it will make a what i can only describe as a 'boiiiing' noise and then again if you do full lock in the other direction. If your not hitting full lock then there is no problem at all and its more an irritation than anything.

any ideas? im not sure if its both sides making the noise im yet to get my head down there while someone turns the wheel.

Hmm... I wonder whether the strut bearings are shot and the spring is moving around?

Pi springs......lovely.
Just keep your eye on them, Ive had friends who have had numerous problems on various cars because they have opted for this brand. Snapping, going out of shape etc.

Are you sure the sound was not there before the springs were fitted? as most cars I have drive with PAS make a sound on full lock.
Have you checked your PAS fluid???

It sounds like the spring becoming unseated as the strut twists. As Teamster says, I'd suspect strut top mounts first, and if they don't fix it, then check that all the foam/rubber spring retaining parts were refitted correctly when the springs were fitted.

hmmmm will check that later.

Oddly enough I've fitted numerous Pi kits and had friends with them and never had a single problem which is why I opted them - although would have gone eibach if I saw them and the spax were more than I wanted to pay. This time i was lazy and got someone else to fit them  Only brand I ever stayed away from was gmax.

Top mount was where my mind was going but thought I'd ask around first.
