Lazy fan bodge

Post by poddack »

Had a little spin up the motorway this dinner time and noticed the temp gauge rising a bit faster normal than usual (it was 30 deg outside) I thought I might have a look at the second radiator fan which has never worked. I prodded it hard with my finger first it hiccuped, ooh! So I kept hitting it with a screwdriver and it burst into life. This'll do for me until I eventually remove the front of the car and swap him, at the very least it narrows down the problem and kepp Puglet a bit cooler.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!

An excellent example of kinetic maintenance. :)
I was inducted into the mysteries of this startegy by a senior colleague some years ago - his business card even had the letters 'Awa' after his name. One day I asked what it stood for....

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
