Hi guys, newbie here with a stupid prob. about 6 months ago I started to repair a 2000 exec whose cambelt had gone ping, got a second hand head (later found it was from an xu10, but seems ok) finally got round to the rebuild last week, and found ive lost the crank pulley!!! Now i'm gonna post an ad in the wants for that, but my problem is ive been trying to get hold of a new one and pug are telling me you have to replace all the pulleys and tensioners from the cams down at a cost of nigh on 300 quid, which i dont want to do as Ive just built it all up with new tensioners etc. does anybody know if the superseded part is basically the same and they are just covering there backs by saying i need to replace the lot? or am i going to have to find a good second hand one? and if so does any other pulley fit? any help would be great. cheers. ben.

You either want part 0515R1 (£68.41) or 0515N3 (£49.12). Pop your VIN here and someone'll tell you which.
There is however a note attached to the part, although it seems I can't read it. These notes usually mean they've changed something in a group of parts which means to replace one part you have to replace several else stuff'll break. In this situation going from what you've said, I'd bet they've either changed the ribbing pattern on the belt, or the offset on the pulley, which means you'll want matching parts unless you want the belt flying off

I've been watching with some interest and not a little sympathy. Can't really add anything useful, other than I've been in similar predicaments but blundered out of most of them eventually. The more people you can bounce ideas off, the better your chance of success - just a shame there's so few V6 owners who've done this themselves.
Was just wondering if Benny's definetly after the crank pulley, (that drives the aux. belt), or the timing pinion, (that drives the cambelt). I'm guessing the former could be liberated from most 4-cyl petrol D9's at a scrappy, but the pinion's a different matter....

hi there, yes definately the crank pulley, which im told is anti vibration on these later ones, got a block from and xu but the pulley is totally different. Spok to pug and yes they say a whole host of different parts have to be used but tbh that would be uneconomical, so it looks like tryin to find a 2000- ew engine in a scrappy to canabalise, any body got one?

Original p/no. is 0515 N3, £50.60 with the VAT, but as Matt says, there's a note attached which is not visible to us, (I presume because we're not paying for the priviledge).
