hdi badge colour and car shake

Post by ridgie74 »

hi everybody

great to see this site --- I have just bought a 99 hdi 90, v plate. I was wanting one of these for ages and found what I think is a good one.

The hdi badge has a green coloured "i', is this normal? I am just curious. Also, when driving, if i suddenly, and quickly remove my foot from the accelerator pedal, the car seems to shudder back and forward momentarily. Is this just normal for a diesel, or could there be a problem? I have googled these things and cant find any info.

As with any used car, there is that period of paranoia where you hope everything is ok!!

It is a great car - what a handsome and dignified beast.

Any help greatly appreciated

Hello, ridgie & Welcome 8)

The Hdi badge is normally chrome.

The shudder you describe doesn't sound normal. Could be many things, but I suggest checking for a dodgy engine mount.
Blip the throttle while looking at the engine - if the lower engine mount is shagged, the engine will rock backwards and forwards significantly.

As far as I know ALL D9 406's between 1999 and 2003 came out with an all-chrome HDi badge.

Any variation to the badge is definately an add-on by the previous keeper. I think the green i's are off a 307?

Engine mount would be my guess for the pause/shudder when on/off the gas. If the mount is worn I would recommend changing it as soon as you can because it will lead to further problems.....[/T-shirt] :|

"This sounds sad I know"

All peugeot's that have a HDI badge are normally chrome.

Apart from 1.4 HDI'S which has a green I think for economy and green to the environment.

More sportier peugeots 206 Gti 110 1.6 hdi red i and 307 2.0 136 hdi red i.

As Welly said earlier 406's did not have a HDI badge on the rear.

As mine is a little sportier than a standard HDI remapped uprated clutch etc............

I to have purchased one of the HDI badges with the red i

Hello, my name is Rappy, I know lots of things about Peugeots built between Aug 1989 and July 2009. My particular field of interest is the Decals used on various models......

Welly that is so true    .

I must admit I was bit of a pug nerd. Not so up on pugs any more. 205, 405, 206,306,406 I know quite a bit. Anything with 07 at the end forget it.

Hi ridgie,

Mine does the leaping about thing if I come off the gas to sharply, more so the lower the gear. It also has shot engine mounts so this seems a likely candidate indeed.
