Rattle under load

We thought it may have been the water pump, or timing or crankshaft pulley.
Pug specialist fitted a new timing belt kit, new water pump and said the crankshaft pulley is ok and just "tighened" it.
So, why is there still a rattle when accelerating?
Whats weird is it stops at 3000-3200rpm.
Any idea's?

3,200. Mine does that, it's the injectors apparently.

My previous Xsara HDi 90 did it too - I'm sure it's not a fault. Did it for the 100,000 miles I drove it without problems.
Doggy's theory is it abandons pre & post injection in favour of emulating a mechanical injection system when under full load.
(Can't explain why it smoothes out at 3000, but then I'm not French)
FWIW the 136 doesn't do it, or if it does, the noise gets drowned out by the ecu dumping all the 'excess' boost

German? The ecu turns on the third piston in the HP pump at 3,200 rpm.

Not really, more moving parts - more to go wrong
