What is the weirdest thing you 've done to ur PUG

Post by jibz »

Just wanna start this thread for the fun of it. What is the weirdest thing you've ever done to your 406.
Okay I lived in the UK for a while, drove my 406. I moved back home in Africa, took my 406 with me cos of the love.
But since we dont drive RHD, i got it changed to a LHD. 1, cos 406 are damn expensive ova here (meant for the rich) 2, just to satisfy my curiosity.
Find attaced pictures before and now... oops cant attach more than 3 pictures

Well I had a dog and her seven baby puppies in the boot at one point. I'd post pics but it's all part of this big hoo-hah.

WOW!

Weirdest thing? well you win the bravest thing by doing the RHD/LHD convertion

I would think that was a nightmare job but I suppose also it could be really easy (they were designed as LHD primarily) the steering rack would seem the worst bit??

As for me, the weirdest thing was for me to source and suggest fitting the chrome strip under the grille of the D9's but then NOT fitting one myself so that's the weirdest thing I NEVER done :?

Hi Welly

Can you tell me where you found a place you could order the chrome strip (Welton Panel)? I couldn't find anywhere, and I wants one :cheesy:

To stay on topic, the only thing I've really done to my 406 was replace the standard steel rims with some 15in alloys off of a 307. They look sweet-as, but the tyres fitted were smaller than those that were originally on the 406, so the "car on roller skates" look does seem a little exaggerated. Next time I'm due to buy tyres, I'll be putting bigger ones on. So, I've done nothing especially weird to mine 8)

Don't think it'd be too hard, but really really time consuming plumbing in the hydraulics (clutch, brakes, PAS), the heater, the aircon... having to strip everything down, replace the loom... I wouldn't fancy doing it

My weirdest thing... nothing really yet I don't think, although I've driven my last one a fair distance without a working clutch pedal  Oh, and I put an 807 mirror into my coupe, but that's just mild hackery

WAIT! I got 707 miles to a single tank of petrol in a V6 with passengers and the car full to the brim with luggage! I think that qualifies as "weird"

The Dealers keep'em (or can order them) they're about £15.00 from memory. I'm sure someone said that the Welly Panel's have been cropping up on ebay too?

The brake master cylinder's in the same place, so you can just chuck all that remote shaft nonsense. The heater and air con don't need moving. Clutch, well, yes, and electricks but Jibz's car is a 96 so probably a lot easier than a D9. I'd actually be very interested in details, all those lovely, dirt cheap 406s in the UK. True, I'd have to pay more than the value of the car to import it but still a big saving.

Yea. i think its almost same for a D8 and D9(cheaper for a D9).. Got a LHD dashboard, door mats, pedals, A/C evaporator behind d dash. changed the direction of d wiper, moved the fuel lid opener.... the only thing i did not move are my seat (its electric).... then u either get new set of electrical wires or extend the old one... I got a guy to extend mine cos its cheaper (but not so good to d eyes excepts that its all hidden behind d dash)

Forgot to add that it saved me over 2,000 pounds  (....that unbelieveable :?: )..... u wonder, how much these cars are worth in the UK :cheesy:
