1.9 TD Exhaust Question

According to ServiceBox, there are two versions of the 1.9 Td front section - one with a front silencer and one, (presumably later), with a cat.
Without cat = 1705CF EXHAUST FT PIPE £219.17  , with = 1705 CJ PIPE £400.88
Now what I'm wondering is, can you buy an aftermarket front section which definetely doesn't have a cat?
Does anyone know for certain / have any recommendations?
(My bro's 1.9 estate needs a new front section and any improvement in ooomph / throttle response wouldn't go amiss)....

Assuming it's a D8, yup, without a soot filter it's got a straight through silencer box, flows better and is much quieter. (just changed mine over.)
