HDi owners, whats your oil of choice?

Just curious, I can read the spec sheet for what grade of oils are applicable to my 2.0 HDi engine, but what make of oil are people out there actually using?
Do you use Synthetic or semi synth (specs seem to allow for the use of either)?
Whats your make of choice? Castrol, Comma, Mobil, Halfrauds own brand, or even the el-cheapo supermarket brand?
Due to do a full service at the end of the month, filters are no problem, they'll be coopers, mann, or fram, depending on what the local motor factors sell. Its just some advice on which specific oil put all you HDi owners stick in your engines.
At the same time I'm probably going to change the sump and cam cover gaskets, to try and keep some of the oil in the engine.

I swear by Comma 10w40 semi synthetic. I've used it everything from Mini/Metro A series engine to sportspike engines that hit 16k rpm.
I avoid castrol oils like the plague, every time i've used castrol (3 times now, once in a cavvy 2.0, once in my pug and once in a golf Gti) the cars have burned the it at an alarming rate, then when i switched back to comma, walla, no oil burning. The golf was the worst, using 1 litre of castrol per 500 miles.
For this country and the temps we get here, summer or winter, 10w40 is pretty much perfect unless something "special" is recommended by the manufacturer, such as some Fords like transits, which use a strange looking and smelling oil.

Comma oils are pretty decent - i have used them extensivly in the past.
I personally are using the comma 10/40 semi synthetic in my 2.0 110bhp Hdi, with no ill effects. It doesnt tend to use much between services (if any LOL)

I've found that the Pug recommended Total Quartz oils are actually pretty reasonably priced from the main stealer.

I used Total Quarts 9000 last time I changed the oil in my HDi, partly because it was recommended by someone on here (the last time this question was asked) but mainly 'cos my mate was doing it cheap

Look at the container and compare the spec written on it, you will probably find that no matter who has their name on it, most of the oil will be the same spec, eg, A3/B3, A4/B4, API CF, CG, CH, etc.

HI,
I can recommend the Comma semi-synthetic stuff as I've run various cars up to mega mileages with it with NO trouble whatsoever, usually changing at 6k intervals. Every so often I swear by adding a tub of Slik50 which is brilliant stuff.
They used to do one called 'Comma Euro-diesel' which was the best but they dont seem to make it anymore.
Currently I'm running Valvoline 'Max-life' semi-synth 10w40 for higher mileage engines which has an additive to help engine seals stay in good health I'm told. In my case the leaky intercooler has reduced itd leakage immensely. This runs out at £17.00 ish from the factors.
Some homework for the technically minded

In the "so what should I buy" section there is confirmation of what I posted above.
Here is a link that I have posted several times previously....
