cooling fan
been towing a caravan today and the temp gauge went up to 90 on my 2-1 diesel what temp should the fans cut in at? as when i stoped the fan wasnt on
Re: cooling fan
90 is about the temperature the fan(s) should kick in and out at low speed. Full speed operation (which can stay on after the engine's stopped) happens about 100.
If you want to test your fans, unplug the coolant temperature sensor and turn the ignition on. The fans should spin up to full speed. Beware there may be 1, 2 or 3 coolant temperature sensors - the one with the brown plug is normally the one that does the biz

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
