OK so I'm new to the forum, & I expect the answer to my question is common knowledge to everyone else. But here goes.
I've got a 2002 1.8 petrol 406 estate LX. My brand new shiny Haynes manual talks about EW, XU and many other kinds of engines possibly fitted to my car. But what have i got....... I can't even begin basic servicing unless I know. Help please!!

It's either a XU (8-valve) or EW (16-Valve), in my 1.8i it is the EW engine. If you can take a picture, i would be able to let you know asap.

It's definately a 16 valve, so it looks like EW it is.

Or remove the pipe from the bottom of the filter to the inner wing - seems ok on my HDi anyway.
