Performance and Noise!

Hi,

Has anyone had this problem or known of it, I own a 1.9D standard setup nothing fancy and I love my car very much even though it has had better days (glad to say its been in the garage less time than my Mrs ST170 lol)... :cheesy:

The engine sound ok on start up but when driving if i push on the go-faster pedal there is no responce from the engine to incress it's revs, it seems to hold back for a few seconds then apply causing the car to increase revs late. I have noticed that it happens near 3K (or there about) revs and does not help when trying to pass grandma in her rover on sundays :( I know the car is not a fast model but this is not right and been doing this since I came back from a weekend break, whilst on the motorway it happens alot;trundling along at 60/70 (can happen at other speeds) then I need to accelorate up a hill or past grandma again and the car seems to hold back its power and then picks up to near normal performance about 5/8 seconds later :?:

Also I have noticed a rumbling noise even when the clutch is in, this noise is at all times when driving, I think it could be the engine mount or bearing but could it also cause the above issue?

Regards :?
