Hiya,
Drive a 2002 110 hdi Exec estate, recently when i driveit, it loses power, feels sluggish, i park up switch off an don again and then its ok, this evening coming back from Bicester to London the car had no power from the start, tried switching off/on the ignition and still no luck,, the car struggled uphill and had no boost, sometimes it would max out at 60 to 70mph then got onto M25 and 20 miles into it i felt the power retuen and it seems to be ok.
Can anyone tell me what the problem could be please?

Limp-home without warning lights or messages on the MFD? That's odd. Best bet would probably be to get any fault codes read, cleared, then read again after a short drive. If your 406 is later than around March 2001, you should be able to use any old scan tool, otherwise it may be cheaper to pay a Peugeot dealer £50 or so

Hiya,
Thnaks for all your replies, took it down the local garage who ran diagnostics and found it to be a faulty MAF, ( i though it would be a MAF or EGR problem initaliiy), will have this replaced.

You can still use the cheaper OBDII scan tools on the multiplexed cars and probably be able to reset most trouble codes, but you'll not be able to enter the config menus and have a play (and they won't tell you anything except engine data). T'is why I eventually invested in a Lexia interface so I could read aircon, body system, stability system data etc. With 2 pugs in the stable it's paid for itself many times over.

A friend of mine uses this on his 406 coop...

Despite the disclaimer my man says it will also allow you to 'see'
some fault codes on some ancillary systems, such as ABS etc, but it won't let you reset those. It alos has regular software updates, which is nice.
Drop the seller a PM just to be sure it'll be compatible with your car, although he gives a money back guarantee if you find it doesn't suit your car.

Is your friends coop a diesel, by any chance? If so does the gadget read / reset ecu fault codes etc?
