Hi, Hopefully you can help my workmate with this one, he owns a 2001 406 hdi lx which he has had trouble starting especially as the weather has become colder. He replaced all 4 glowplugs on Sunday but is still having major problems. He has rung his local garage who have said check the glowplug fuse and the glowplug relay. Now the glowplug light is coming on when it should do so i am guessing maybe the relay is at fault. So the question is where is the glowplug relay situated and is it a difficult job to replace as i said i will have a look for him tomorrow, also where is the fuse and what number is it just incase i haqve to look at the fuse....Thanks Colin

Get a multimeter and check if you are getting 12V to the glowplugs.

Not sure if this is the same thing but, bccording to HBoL, the pre-post heating control unit is "located on the left hand side of the engine compartment where it is mounted on a bracket just in front of the fuse box". And, apparently, this won't exist on "later" models as this will be controlled by the ECU.

But, again, not sure if this actually refers to the relay itself...
