HDI 90 - Siemens - Help!!

Guys,

Looking for help with my new pug. Changed my 1999 HDI 90 Lx Saloon (bosch injection system) for a 2004 Hdi 90 S Estate (Siemens injection system)
The symptoms:

The new car seems under powered compared to my old car. My old car averaged 50 Mpg (No computer , but calculated) my new car averages 44 mpg.

My daily 120 mile commute is mainly motorways and a roads, average speed 50mph.

The car seems to shudder in 4th and 5th gear at around 2000 rpm, almost like it is going to stall (The old car did not do this). After standing overnight the car cranks longer than the old one before it fires.

The Siemens injection system has a fuel priming bulb with clear tubing on inlet and outlet. IF you rev the engine you can see bubbles coming through (This I assume is not normal)

I have replaced the MAF, anyone got any other ideas.

My next course of action is to do an injector leackage test using fuel tubing and bottles of the spill return line on the top of the injectors?

Anyone got any other suggestions. Really want to get the claimed 49 MPG average out of the car.

Thanks

DW

No real suggestions, except to say the Semen set up doesn't have the lift pump in the tank, so I guess there's a vacuum (ok then, negative pressure) in the pipes from the tank and a small hole will let air in. It'll also probably mean your fuel lines will empty overnight.
