clunking

Hi guys got in the car yesterday it was freezing overnight got a clunking noise from the back of the car every time I pressed the brake after a few miles the noise disappeared this has happened a few times latley only in snowy cold conditions is something broken or something frozen up any one else had this problem thanks in advance ....Rob ps braking is not impaired

Sorry steve been out ,one clunk every press of the pedal after a feww miles it disaappears

I can't say I've ever heard brakes clunking, they either work or they don't

And you have a... 1997 estate ...2.0 petrol 16valve (I am Sherlock Holmes

) so I'd imagine you have disks on the back. All I can suggest is you get it in the air and check nothing untoward is going on. Check the calipers aren't about to fall off and that they are free to slide on the pins. Yours probably has a load valve on the rear aunty roll bar which you should have a look at if you can't see any other problems. Not that there's much to see but it could stick and cause the noise.
