Boot lock broke?

Hi Guys,

Ever since i bought my D9 saloon back last year, ive always had to lock and unlock the boot by the key, should it not lock/unlock by the key at the same time as the doors?

My main problem is the key has been spinning in the lock just lately and ive struggled to actually get it unlocked, does it sound like a new lock is needed.

Hope someone can give me some ideas.

Cheers

Not sure, does the lock make any noises with the remote? I found out the other day that if I unlock the boot with the key without unlocking the rest of the car it then becomes independent of the central locking.

Cant say ive ever heard any noises. Unlocking it with the key does not make the alarm go off or anything like that, and does not have any effect on the other doors.

Try taking the interior boot panel off and seeing whether the actuator is plugged in. If so, test for 12V when you lock/unlock the doors. As for the boot lock spinning, sounds like a similar issue I had with my drivers door. Get some WD40 with the straw attachment and stick the straw in through the key hole. Spray generously, then take the key and lock and unlock the boot several times. You may need to spray the oil in a few times to get the lock fully lubed up. This method worked for my door lock so holefully will work for your boot lock too.

Rite then, ive had a look, and found a plug, just hanging there, i assume this is what makes the boot lock work off the remote?

Thing is i cant see where it plugs into without taking the lock out, and ideas guys?

Thanks.

I have a boot solenoid in the garage.

I had to change the ignition switch on my previous d9 (twice!!) and the scrappy would only sell me a complete lock set, hence I now have a lot of lock spares

I can sell you the solenoid for £5 plus P&P if interested

Should there be a panel inside then? my t reg lx 110 hdi has never had one I bought it when it was about 9 years old in excellent condition and low mileage and it did not have one the boot sounds "clangy" when it shuts I didnt think there was a trim on as standard
