2.1td fly wheel timing hole. why is there 4?

just changed a pump on a 406 2.1 td from lucas to bosh and stupidly didnt put a rod into the flywheel timing hole,
anyway when i went to find it agian i found 4 of them.
a bit strange i thought. is there any reason for this?
on another fly i have from a 2.1 theres 2 holes.

theres 3 holes in this one not 4, a small one and a big one.

The big hole is the equivalent of two small holes. Thereby, 3.
