I have a D9 2.0 MK2. 2003

I have a problem, when I accelerate my car, it's not going smooth especially at 2000-3000rpm. it's not so smooth like it lack of gas. I tried over to look the Throtle body but I think it is fine. The idle rpm when the car is not run is normal at 800-900rpm. The problem only shows when I accelarate and it will worsen near the 2000-3000rpm and it will normal again over 3000rpm.

The Display show a extreme real time Fuel consumption when the engine accelerated at 2000-3000rpm. it shows 15-18l/100km. Where is the problem? I have changed my fuel filter and clean my fuel tank. Is the problem is from the fuel lining or a computer error problem?

Air flow meter?

Air flow meter, what is that for sure? should I clean it or replace it? Is that sensor something placed at the catalytic conventer?

The air flow meter or Mass Airflow sensor (MAF) is located in the large pipe coming from the air filter box, there is a wiring connector fastened to it.

Remove the air pipe and very gently clean out the sensor using some injection cleaning spray or brake cleaner spray....be very careful that you don't damage the internal wire sensor or you will have to replace the MAF.

sorry i didnt mention it. 2003 petrol automatic

Ah, then it could be a lambda sensor (sort of the equivalent to the diesel's MAF). Try disconnecting it and see if there's a difference...

Do you mean a stratge diode-like thing before the throtle body? That is the sensor? do I have to remove it first?

can I just disconect it, and try to run my car for a test? Will it cause an error in the ECU?

The petrol engine also has a MAF, along with 2 lambda sensors (oxygen sensors).
A faulty lambda sensor would usually put the engine management warning light on, a faulty MAF usually does not.
Perhaps a diagnostic session would help.

There is one lambda sensor before the catalytic converter and one after the catalytic converter.

Problem Solved

Last week I run a Carbon Cleaner and Injector Cleaner with 3M Fuel System Cleaner. And all the problem is gone. thanks God
