Hello I have a 2.0 HDI Estate yr 2000 which has developed an annoying knocking on the front when going over a rough road (nearly everywhere in the uk these days) and /or going over speed humps. I changed a drop link on the drivers side last summer and it cured a similar problem......surely it shouldnt have gone again??? I dont drive over speed humps fast in fact nearly get rear ended alot as i slow up for them, Im a design engineer so know all too well about mechanical items but i am surprised if it will be the links again...anyone suffered similar?

You just changed the driver's side or both? It could be gone again, these things don't seem to last very long (drop links as service items?)

Hi...I only changed the Drivers side...now it seems to be noisy from both sides...
You say they dont last long?.....Its only been about 6 months since replacement of that one...is that abnormal or perhaps not too bad??
Service item?....Is it something that has become frquent to change?....like engine oil......as an engineer that would seem to me to be a bad design if it faults frequently.
Maybe im living in the days of good old well made parts?

Yep, bad design, they just don't seem to last that long (have a search to see how many have had problems). A bit like MAF sensors and front wishbones on Alfas...
My D8 was making a hell of a racket from the driver's side, I had a look but couldn't see owt. Turned out it was the passenger side one gone
