Where is the oil level sensor?

I'm slowly adding bits and bobs to my D8 1.9td, one of the bits i want is the oil level sensor (for no other reason than to have one), but ...
I have no idea where it is on the engine, or what it looks like.
I'm guessing the second bolt hole above the drain plug in the sump is for a temp sensor, or is it for a float unit?
Hopefully somebody clever can help

Looks like it's on the back lhs of the block with a green plug. There's a few references to it on here so have a search

I found this after a bit of searching, claims to be for the gti6 block, which is the xu AFAIK.
it's actually item 6 on this diagram

I've also been told the oil temp is also fed by the oil level sensor. In my rapier the oil level works in dash but the oil temp gauge doesn't read. I wonder if it is this which does both jobs??

i THINK the oil temp is read from the bolt hole above the sump drain plug.

Interesting, something to look into as i would love t have this gauge working on the dash!

This is for my car, 18 is :"OIL GAUGE, LONG 140" - now I don't know if this is the temp probe - it looks very similar to the oil level probe on other models- there doesn't seem to be a separate temp sensor. HBoL suggests they are combined on EW / DW engines
This is a 2.1, 17 is;"TEMPERATURE, 14x125 - 155DEG, BE - Blue" - which clearly is the temp sensor & 6 is:"OIL LEVEL PROBE"
2.0 HDi's have a different level probe, but in the same place as the 2.1. (Guessing the 2.2 has to be different because of the balancer shafts in the sump).

Interesting... Ill have to see as the misses car doesnt have the gauge in the dash so it MAY have something missing in one of those holes or be blanked whereas mine may have something plugged in...

Hello
Most Peugeots already have an oil level gauge on the dash - it's when you switch on there is a symbol with a number of zeros and an oil motif at the end. It shows the level by the number of zeros showing or filled in. The oil sensor is integral with the pressure sensor at the front of the block, if I'm wrong I appologise.

The newer models have the level gauge in the mileage readout, but most of us are skinflints and drive the D8 models

Sorry again - well there you go I never thought I was so lucky. I run a 206 for the other half and that has the feature too.
