The Black Beauty

I always thought that the 110 was better in the long run that the 136 as the 2.2 can suffer with head problems (like me :D )

Black Beauty has amazed me, I didn't even know an 'S' model existed. and that is JUST the sort of model I would go for even if it does have less goodies.

If I had 5 bags to spend I really would be straight down there this weekend waving it in their faces :P

OOOOOH, I like the black sport model. It looks exactly like mine, but with lovely 16" rims. Ive been dropping hints to the missus about getting a nice set of wheels, but getting nowhere fast. I would drop the suspension first tho....
And yes, mine is a cure punt to keep clean. Mudflaps should help out a wee bit, so theyre next on the list.

Women eh? don't you just like them, a bit.........

''There's nothing wrong with the wheels you've got, what a waste of money''

''New wheels won't make any diiference, there just wheels, what a waste of money''

''What do you want to chip the engine for, it will probably go wrong, what a waste of money''

Miniman, you should arrange with a friend to 'steal' your wheels then you can get some new one's.

Why can't Women share in a man's enthusiasm for all things automotive and let him explore his boy like passion for nice wheels, performance mods, etc. etc. the world would be a much better place, and women would at least be interesting to talk too.

Its true!
But she actually bought me a new set of diamond cut wheels for my mini. Nice big 12" deep dish rims they are too! :cheesy:
Dont think 12" wheels would look right on the 406 though. In fact, the disks are bigger than that!!
I like the theft idea tho, you got me thinking................................. :cheesy:

I owned a black car for 3 years and come on, it is a lot easier to keep dark colours looking clean than light colours - unless your eyes are as sharp as a hawk's and you can see black dirt on black paint.

As for a 136bhp and a 110bhp in the same price range, with the 136bhp model having better mileage -- it's a no-brainer mate. Get the 136bhp car, it's as fast as the petrol turbo.

I keep hearing about the powerful diesel engines suffering "head trouble". My dad has owned a 2.1TD for seven years covering 100,000 miles and he has never had one problem (apart from the usual wear and tear). I have yet to know a 406 TD owner who has suffered head trouble.

Got to agree with welton there, I'd go for the black. Alweays thought black looks very professional for a taxi.

Mines an SE, which is very similar, same dash but with a few extra bits of kit, half leather etc. Never seen an S

For me, it would have to be the 2.2 136bhp. I've got that engine in my coupe and it's fantastic. I've also drove a friend's 110bhp, there really is no comparison. The 2.2 drives lovely. DOwnside means the trip to scotland, but that's just the once.

I am sure those people were just unlucky :P Many people say the 2.1TD engine is the least reliable PSA diesel engine made, but I never had any troubles.... :|

Supa, I wasn't refering to you when I said Women weren't interested in cars, you should know that by now

I remember driving 75 miles to see a 406 and although it looked excellent on the photo's (what car doesn't) it was a nail. Every panel dinged or scratched, stereo- typical car salesman and I walked away.

When you get to see a good'un you'll know straight away.

I would think you should look at say 4 or 5 and then choose, lets face it 406's are always coming up for sale.
