How to remove front coil spring & strut
Mr P on Yahoo Answers wrote:Have taken the struts off mine a few times now.

Try getting a ring spanner and torx to fit the top of the strut first, and loosen it while still on the car(- don't take it off yet!)

Wheel off, and support etc.
Take out front section of wheel arch plastic.

The front wishbone seems biased to spring up - you will need a bar and rope around it to force it down off the track rod end.
Take the main bolt out of the back of the lower end of the strut - completely out, and use WD40 in the socket at the lower end.
A heavy copper hammer is good here.
Before doing this - use your spring compressors to make life easier.
3 bolts at the top and it will come out (with you standing on your bar/rope on the wishbone.
You may want to put a new top bearing in there too. - They're cheap enough if corroded - which they usually are.

Paint with waxoyl before fitting back on and you won't have problems.

Careful not to stretch the brake lines.
