Headlight inop

Post by ironman »

I have a 2001 406 2ltr HDI estate and my n/s dipped headlight isn't working.

I have changed the bulb (twice, thinking the first new bulb must have been dud) and I've checked the fuse (No 31 I think it was according t the handbook) which was not blown.

Is there anything else that might be causing this problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome in mate! :)
Possibly fault with the relay if the fuse is ok? Either that or wiring fault/stalk fault.

I'd get the multimeter out and check things like the bulb socket and fuses, trying to see where there is electricity.

I couldn't tell you which relay as I've never owned a D9, however check this page for a link to the Haynes
To test just swap the relay with a different circuit!

If I'm reading this right the engine fuse panel on all D9s is the same, just on earlier cars the wiring is part of the fuse panel. It's a bit confusing on the parts diagrams as it only mentions from July 2001 but if this isn't just another cock-up you should look at fuse 9 there.

Thanks for the help, it's sorted now.

It was a fuse, I had already looked at them and they looked ok, but when I took them out and looked more closely I realised one was cracked.

Thanks Again :)
