Hello From Matt

Post by EasyTM »

I've been on here a few weeks now so I thought I'd introduce myself and my car. I know it's not a 406 but it's my baby lol.

This is my car. And includes as best I can to include everything I have done to it in my 2 years of ownership. I have tried to keep everything as OEM as possible, minus the sound system for obvious reasons. There was a jbl upgrade for the 206 which would have been far too difficult to fully install, so I went with a jbl set up that equally as good and excellent if your on a budget like I was.

For anyone who is interested this is the progress of my car so far. I bought the car on 1st April 2009. Its a 2002 02 1.4 GLX 8v, 52k for £2,495.

This is how it looked when i picked it up

Car came with colour coded everything, including washer jets, bumper grill and bonnet vent :| Where i belie  ve now it had been in a bang (although the hpi check didnt find anything) it had alot of spray work done. The "Peugeot" & "206" badges on the tailgate had been removed and the adhesive resin had been sprayed over by some idiot. So i had to have the tailgate sanded and sprayed.

Image

To show some dedication the first thing i decided to do to the car was get an info sticker for the rear window 8)

Image

I then found a cheap sports rear bumper on ebay. Took it to the bodyshop to have it sprayed

Image

Image

Around the same time i found a SP fuel cap on ebay that i changed over

Image

I was getting abit sick of all the silver bits that had been painted on the car, so i decided to get some contrast back. I ordered a non-sport honeycomb grill off ebay and went to the scrap yard for a bonnet vent. I also got some black ph1 washer jets (couldnt find and ph2's at the time) just so i didnt have to keep the silver ones.

Next step was to change the wheels from the 14" Nimrods to some 16" Nimrods. Picked up a set from the scrap yard near my house

Wheels as they were purchased

Then i had them refurbed in standard silver

After

Then i took them to have some tyres fitted. The tyres i chose represented my budget at the time, i couldnt afford a top brand but after reading up i decided to go with the Federal Super Steel 595's.

Image

Image

Next i got some metal SP pedals from of Mattie

Image

The car was left in this state for a while. Until i managed to find a GTI handbrake with the alloy button (i think i bought this off Fool_Throttle, but i cant remember lol). I had also bought a alloy gearknob off a member on here, whos name i cant remember lol (sorry :( ). I decided to fit these at the same time

Image

Shortly after i found some SP vent sliders, purchased off Brian

Image

Then i got some SP interior alloy handles for my front doors

Image

Image

At this time my car was due a service and when the mechanic had it on the ramp, he noticed that i needed a new rear shock absorber and a new exhaust.

So i got some new rear shocks from eurocarparts

Image

And my exhaust from Bellis Brothers in Oldham

Image

Image

Next Purchase was a set of Junyan Crystal rear lights on ebay

I also purchased a pair of Crystal Clear ph2 side repeaters from pug.

Recently while info has been off ive done a few more little bits.

After waiting what seemed like forever, i got myself a ph2 bootstrip

Image

I also got some ph2 washer jets

Image

Went to the scrap yard again, only for a broken washer bottle cap this time and i noticed something on the top racking. I couldnt believe my eyes, a set of GTi Leather seats. Luckily the owner didnt have a clue what these were worth. So i snapped them up, telling him they were only worth £80 and offering him £60 cash

I cleaned them up with some Gliptone Leather Cleaner and Conditioned them also before installing them. I removed my ugly blue velour interior. while i had all the seats out i gave the inside a proper clean. After i put all the seats in istarted looking at options for the doorcards and glovebox lid. I couldnt find a good colour match for the Alcantara without getting the proper stuff which is expensive, so i sought out some alternatives. Finally deciding on some black faux suede from ebay.

I removed the fabric panels from the doorcards myself to save on costs, carefully taking the heads off the plastic rivets that hold them in place. I took them to the upholsterers at the start of the week and they were finished on the wednesday.

Also while i had all the doorcards off, i thought id upgrade all my speakers. I chose the JBL GTO range getting the 16cm 628's for the front and the 13cm 528's for the rears. All wired in by myself, with alot of help and advice from Lee, Howey & Ant (thanks again lads, much appreciated :D )

When i got the doorcards back i popped to B&Q to get some 4x12mm-8x1/2" Self Tapping Screws to fix the fabric sections of the doorcards back to the rest, carefully screwing into the hole that was left in the plastic rivets (which is why you only need remove the heads of the rivets when removing ;) )

While i had the rear doorcards off i also swapped the interior handles for some matching SP handles

UPDATE:

swapped my crystal rears for some phase 2 rears as i am trying to keep everything as OEM as possible

fitted some led's into the number plate lights which you can see on this pic

Update

Changed my dials

Now

Fitted

New Sports Bumper with fogs, honeycomb grille, LCR splitter and new plates front and back. Not bad for around £45

Due to skanky twats claiming because they cant drive in the snow, i've had to put getting a new get back another year. The insurance costs are just too much for me to afford atm.

Anyway, been a while since i added anything to this.

Recently aquired some Phase 2 Crystal Headlights from DJ.

Also made the decision to remove my 206info sticker

Hope you enjoy the read. If anyone has questions feel free to ask :)

Thanks, Matt.

So it does, my apologies. I dont know how to like it here now. I just signed out to try and I can't :(

I'll have a look and see if there's a way I can get all the info without anyone having to register.
