Hello again!

Post by Devilsypug »

Hello all again! Seeing as it has been a long time since I have been active on this forum I feel it is only right to reintroduce myself!
Reason for such a long layoff is down to a rather nasty split with the ex.... the little darling also took my beloved Pug. :x

Anyway, water under t' bridge and all that. I am now back on my feet in the Sutton in Ashfield/Notts area and have managed to purchase a lovely 2001 Y reg GTX 2.2 HDi Estate in dark met green. Bloody fantastic is all I can say about this car. Much better trim/equipment and engine than my previous 1998 S reg petrol 2.0 16v GLX.

Have to say it feels goooood to be back behind the wheel of a 406 again. Just cant get the same feel or value for money from other cars.

So, Hello again all, look forward to becoming active on the site again and I hope you are all well and good. :cheesy:

Sorry to hear that but I guess you are glad it's behind you now.

Good choice on the 2.2HDi, we have some good and very cheap tuning advice about those.......

Hi & welcome back. 8)

As welly says, commiserations over the recent past, but good to have you back and swelling the ranks of the 2.2 enthusiasts too.

I like GTX's, nearly got one too as it ticked all the boxes, (2.2 grunt, armrests, cruise). It's strange they're relatively rare beasts.

Thank you all for the warm welcome back. I am indeed extremely impressed by the 2.2 lump. Always open to tuning advice though.... :cheesy: Especially if it doesnt mean remortgaging the house!

it's generally possible to change the ecu file, to delete the FAP & add 40-odd horses, plus rather more torque. 8)

Expensive though, mine cost me over twenty-five guineas.

De-Fapping... sounds like fun!! Do tell me more please? The FAP light currently comes on nearly every day now and tells me to change the FAP urgently even though I have already done it!!!

Have a look at these two posts:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12487
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10429&hilit=aunty+pollution
The second one's a bit of a marathon read, but ultimately satisfying, IMHO

You can definitely get rid of the whole FAP issue and probably get remapped like mine, for very little lucre. 8)

I've been running the 180 bhp map for 15 months / 26k so far. :cheesy:

All sounds good to me!! Is this a DIY job or a job for the specialists? Is there a thread on this forum about it?
