1998 Peugeot 406 LX Trip Computer

Hi friends, I have just added a beautiful 1998 406 LX 1 owner from new with FSH to my wee lot.
It is a gorgeous car previously owned by a professor and is so clean you could almost eat your dinner off the floor.
I have only one issue with it, and that is that the trip computer is showing only 2 horizontal lines on the display.
I am almost sure it had some data there beforehand but maybe I am wrong.....old age plays tricks

So can anyone advise me on a quick fix with this?
I looked the handbook and it makes reference to taking the car back to a Peugeot dealer with this problem.....surely not always neccessary.
A minor gripe fols as this car is just simply gorg to drive.

Could it be that its unplugged from behind or something,maybe some bad wire?
Dont know about trip comp,i dont have one,mine is too old but i think if you take the car to some with car diagnostic comp it will be fixed in no time.
Sounds like it needs minor adjustment

Do you mean it just has two dashes "- -" on it? You don't mention the engine but D8 diesels didn't get a trip computer (no arrows on the end of the wiper stalk), some petrols too I guess, all they have is external temperature which just shows two dashes when it's bust.

Yes didnt notice which car you have,D8 didnt had trip computer as far as i know.
That little screen infront is just for two things,overall mileage that car has and also for mileage but changable

It is a 1.8 litre petrol.

Hi Steve earwig and Ares, thanks for your help.
I have looked again and I guess it is fact that it doesn't have the trip computer....no biggy for me.
I guess it should show ext temp as there are no arrows on the window wiper stalk.

So I wonder if there is an easy way to fix it???

I tried to take a pic there but too dark.
Yes there is just "--" on that readout that is just situated above the heater controls.

Oh i meant other screen.
Well i have a D8 version,and there is just external temperature,nothing else.
