Afternoon all
Hi there,
I have recently become the proud owner of a 2003 406 2.2 HDI (136) Executive Estate. Love the car so far, unbelievable economy compared to my previous ride (4.0 v8 Jag S Type :-) ) and looking forward a long and mutually beneficial relationship!.
I will no doubt be posting a fair bit as the interior of the car seems to be indicating that is was at some point parked in a swimming pool, and as such there are various bits of electrics that are intermittent or not working, but as it is drying out, it seems to be coming back together (and starting to smell better as well).
Based in the Reading area of Berkshire although the car was found in Dorset.
Look forward to "virtually" meeting you guys.
Fred.

Yes, hopefully you'll find the 406 a tad better on juiceEncargado wrote:

Good choice with the 2.2, seems like there's quite a few knocking around on here now.
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work

Re: Afternoon all
Welcome aboard,
I somehow doubt the 2.2 performance will match the jag but they can be turned into quite a spritely car with some basic modifications.
Keep us posted on the electrical niggles as there is a wealth of knowledge and help to be had on here.
First piece of advice would be to visit your local pug stealers and invest in a bag of clips for the sill seals as its a prone spot for water ingress and make sure the drain holes are clear as they can hold a fair bit of water when they block up.
Not sure about the estate but the rear light clusters on the saloon can let water in if they're not tightened up properly, maybe another estate owner can verify that one?

Hi Fred & welcome aboard.
Excellent choice of vehicle.
Post some pics when you can.
Estates don't suffer the rear light water leak, AFAIK, but all models are prone to blocked sunroof drains - tell-tale sign is water droplets from the top of the 'A' pillar trims, ultrasonic sensors, sun visor brackets or maybe even the interior light / roof console. It's dead easy to sort out.

Re: Afternoon all
Thanks for all the information guys, once this rain stops I will certainly be checking out the multi plugs.
I may well take you up on the offer of a planet session once I have had a chance to check out the plugs and made sure the electrics are dry
Pictures will follow, again once the rain stops (if that ever happens)
Thanks again gents.

Re: Afternoon all
Hi all! little bit of an update. The electrics seem to be getting better as they continue to dry out :-). Next stage is some new drop links front and back and checking out the ABS sensors as per Farmerpug's video. Now that our village is no longer flooded and I can get on the driveway, I can start to sort it out properly.
