NEWBIE, NORTHERN IRELAND

Hey everyone !

Looking help if possible, hope i've came to the right place.

I'm Looking to get myself a 406 coupe 3.0 V6 SE in the comming weeks, roughly 1998 / 1999. with about 80,000 miles. i've seen a few on the net, all are in england and i can't find any in Northern Ireland. Its alos cheaper to buy in england.

What i'm wanting to know is what hints or tips can you give me for buying this model. should i watch out for anything ?

Hopefully next week i'll be travel over to england to buy one, just would like to know as much as possible and ask the seller as many questions as possible before i spend money on travel arrangements.

Welcome mate.

You have made the right choice opting to get the V6 its an awsome engine, but then i would say that :cheesy:

First question to ask the guy selling it. When was the cambelt done? and show me the receipt you lying get?

You will not want the wonga to come out of your pocket because it costs a whopping £1000 :shock:

Hi Chap and welcome....

Just look for service history... that's vital on a V6, don't buy anything without a Peugeot history including the cambelt.. if you want to know what the services include, ask one of the V6 owners on here and they should be able to tell you... failing that visit your local Pug dealer for a service schedule for the V6.

I would ask about any rattles, ticking or blue smoke on start up... ask if there are any oil leaks etc!

There is a local Pug specialist in Bournemouth that will do the V6 cambelt for £250 if you take the bits along,£1000 sounds like someone has had the piss taken out of them.

i can only find 2 406 coupes for sale in northern ireland !!!

so i'll have to go to england to get what i want.

all these tips are great, i'm taking note of them so i know what to ask.

do any of you know any sites i can use to search for a 406 coupe v6 ?

ebay and the autor trader is as much as i can find.
