New guy!

Post by Tiny Tim »

Hi all, just a quick hello from me. I recently bought a 406 2.1TD as my wife popped out our first son and my previous cars werent really suitable. I come from a Renault background, owning mainly GT Turbos, 21 Turbos etc.

It was a toss-up between my 406 and a Laguna 2.2D... Im glad I made the decision I did! - No air con, basic LX model but im well chuffed with it!

Few niggly bits at the moment, speedo is intermitant (more not than often!) and the wipers dont work on intermitant or fast wipe... had a quick search for answers so will get onto sorting those.

Once again, hello and dont hate me for having the old diamond in my heart :D

To be honest you bought the best 406. Reliable, cheap on fuel and relatively powerful. Although, you may be wishing you bought one with an air con :)

The main reason I went for it was the engine to be honest... a mate in Portsmouth recently had his 2.1td die with 240k on the clock - and thats only because some little old lady plowed into him!

I will now bore the others on here half to death because I have said this sooooo many times but I had that engine in my K reg 605 STDT and that covered 265,000 miles before it spewed it.

I still maintain that although the 2.1 has 110 BHP like the new HDi the 2.1 feels faster :cheesy:

.....carry on.

Welcome. I'm glad you've decided to get a car that has a chassis made of something a bit more suitable than eggshells, and that can actually go around corners... (bitter ex-laguna man here!) :D

And the best 406 is the exec turbo! 8)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
