New Pug Owner.

Post by REDLEADER »

Hi all
I found this site last night and thought id join,as I have just bought a 406 Estate 2.0l LX Petrol on an S reg, the car has done 91.400mls, it seems well looked after! FSH. its had 2 new rear shocks (Car is fitted with a tow bar,so thats good) new discs and pads,a recent clutch and T/belt was done at 75.000mls it comes with 12mths MOT 6mths Tax, All for £1295.. :cheesy:
I did have a 106 that was given to me!it was a 1.1 and had 130.000 on the clock!! and I ran that for 15 months after my rover died!! and I have to say it impressed me so much that I wanted to stay with Peugeot, but I wanted an estate to put my dogs in the back, After the little 106 failed an MOT I didnt want to spend any money on it, (Only because I wanted a bigger car) So I gave a Neighbour the 106 and its still going!
So as I have not yet picked up my 406 (I get it on Sat Morning Now!) ..Have I done the right thing! :?: The garage that sold me the car, Rang me up and told me that there was a problem!!!...The fuel gauge had packed up and the thin bit of the arial had..Fallen off/Been nicked? So he had to delay my collection untill Sat so he could fix the 2 items befor my collection!
I do so hope that I have chosen the right car! Im sure I have, Any Advice would be greatly recived

A soon to be member of your club!

Hi there. Not much in the way of advice, I can't suggest anything that will need attention because anything I can think of you've already got covered. The only thing I can think to say is don't panic! :cheesy:

Hello there!

The 406 ownership is pretty easy really and believe it or not the petrol engine is less trouble than the Diesel in fact you will never go near your engine ever - except to check fluids of course :)

Feel free to ask any questions and we'll do our best to help.

Ok picked my car up this morning! :cheesy:
Im happy with it All the bits and bobs had been put right. The arrial had been replaced, and the Fuel gauge was now working!
The guy at the garage said it was a problem with the actual instrament panel! and what he had to do was replace the whole lot?
So he was stud there appologising because my car now read that it had done 46k and not 91k?
But he said he had loged it all in the service book and stamped it up,and he gave me the old one to show should I need to?!So now I have a load of spare bulbs as well  ..Im Well Happy!
The drive back was ,as id been told a pleasure. There was more than enough room for my 6.3" self and plenty of width to cope with me and any passenger id wish to take!
Although not the most urgent accelerating car id ever driven, I found the 406 smooth and well planted on the road and it was more than happy to go where you pointed it! The power steering was not to light and gave a good feel of what was going on at the wheels.
All in all, I think Ive made a very good move picking the 406est, and Think im going to be a very happy man indeed.
Lets hope so eh?
Ill try and get a couple of pics tomorrow to put up.
ps
How do I get a forum sticker to put on the back of my car?
