Lincolnshire Newbie

Post by pugmadnath »

Hi chaps and chapesses,

I've been on PSOOC for quite some time, but I thought I'd give 406oc a go since I've just bought myself a 406.

It's a 'Wicked Red' 406 LS TD Estate with the XUD9TE engine and I really quite like it.

It's on 147,000 miles but had a new engine at 70k in 2002 (Dodgy DHY batch!) along with a new gearbox and clutch last year :)

I had a boost gauge on it yesterday and it seems to hold a constant 15.5psi which I'm pleased about.

It was a bit of a gamble because I had a green 406 LX TD Estate last year which was a complete dog (no boost whatsoever!)...fortunately, this one is nowhere near as bad :)

Anyway - here's a few photos of the recent acquisition.

They're just the photos off the ebay ad but I'll get some others up when I can be bothered to polish it!

Well chaps and chapesses...it's not going particularly well...

1. It's got s atrange pulling to the steering wheel, mostly noticable when going slowly on nearly full lock. You can just feel the steering wheel being tugged with every rotation of the wheels. I had it on the ramp today and all suspension components, driveshafts, gearbox oil, tyres and steering look spot on :?:

2. I've got a fuel leak!!! The sender unit seal is weeping so not the end of the world but will probably take a few hours of dicking about; even if the part is only £6 from pug

Other than that she still seems to be running well and pulls like a train! Next step is to have a fettle with the pump as it doesn't smoke at all at the moment, not even when the boost gauge is reading 16psi and you know what they say...no smoke, no poke

I've also got my eye on a nice set of 307 alloys to smarten her up a bit as I'm not really a fan of hub caps :)

The only other things I need to get round to are changing the engine oil and filter and the fuel filter :)
