Hi all!

Post by mattie007 »

Been meaning to join a while back as I have a few minor issues with the pug!

A bit about the car. Its a 98 1.8 SX LE model, which my dad purchased new from Corby motors.
Since then its been used for everything, including getting me to uni for 3 years and being used as a learner car for me and my brother! Its still a family car, although I also own an MG ZS :cheesy:
Its now on its second engine as my brother flooded the first one, going through a ford a bit to fast! The car was days from being scrapped after sitting in a yard for a year, but we managed to source a similar engine (albeit with a few more miles) and shes back on the road!

Anyway the first issue is that because the car took in a serious amount of water, the cd autochanger in the boot doesnt work. I have a sony head unit I want to fit so we can play cd's from the front, but I cant see how it will fit without an adapter. Is there such a thing available?

Hiya mate, welcome to the club :D

Yes you can get a fascia adaptor to turn the big hole into a standard hole...

You should also be able to get hold of a wiring loom adaptor to avoid having to cut and rejoin wires, and with it being a sony you may also be able to get an adaptor that'll allow you to keep the steering column control working...

Welcome Matt! :)
I know with a Kenwood head unit you don't need an adaptor lead (apart from the stalk control if you're bothered!)

Hi there, welcome aboard!!

The air intake on 406s is indeed stupidly low, the advice is to drill a hole in the intake, thus: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6405&p=64044&hilit= ... ter#p64044

Thanks for the welcome and advice!

We do want to use the steering column controls with the HU if thats possible. Ive already got an autloeads lead in my ZS so would that work in the 406?

Also, any idea where I can get a set of cheapish alloys?
