Captain Jack, thats a very nice interior in your 2.1TD, i do like that. I wouldnt be put off by thr LX spec, as it has everything i would want and i could add the alloys etc. The spec im looking at is the Rapier, which seems similar to the LX but it doesnt have wood interior trim, its got black which i prefer and alloy wheels as standard, though they seem to be all 90bhp versions - though that doesnt bother me too much either, as a remap would sort it pretty much.
Did all D9 models have rear electric windows, the LX i drove did which i was surprised at, as i didnt think they were standard. My 206 is the 2.0HDi LX, which seems an identical spec to the 406 LX apart from the 406 has climate and my 206 just manual AC. So not a bad spec in my opinion, im glad i will still have auto wipers too.
I cant find a executive close or with decent mileage, so im very open to spec, id rather buy on condition and history than colour or spec, though there are some colours i would avoid
One thing ive noticed from pictures of the 110 HDi is that some seem to have different gearboxes? Some seem to have the conventional type and some with the lift up reverse. When was this changed? I know my 52 reg C5 has the lift up reverse, but earlier ones didnt, i asume its similar with the 406? I also notice you get pre-plexed and plexed cars as you do with the 206.
Thanks, hammerman, our 2.1TD Xm estate is ever so slight nippier to the 2.0HDi 110 C5, even though the Xm is huge i suppose it weighs similar to the C5. 2.1TD is a terrific engine, sounds a bit better than a HDi too!. Though the HDi is better on fuel and cheaper to tax, with remapping options which appeals to me.
Im looking to spend £3000 max, ideally looking for 51reg onwards with the 2.0HDi 90 or 110, 110 preffered, in pretty much any spec (maybe not L though) with lowish miles and a good history. There does seem plenty to chose from mind, but they are very scattered and none are all that close to me.
