Hello, I am a "new" 406 owner 2.0 SE Coupe

Post by graymalkin »

Hi
I have just bought a 406 2.0 SE Coupe with 65000 on the clock for £2100 including 1 years tax, MOT and a service from Pontings in Banbury.
This isn't my first 406, I have had 2 in the past a T reg GLX auto and a 52 reg GLX HDi in a really nasty green colour. Both did in excess of 120000 miles before getting rid. (Before that I had 2 405's so I am a loyal Pug guy)
I then went on to a 2.0 206 D-Turbo which was a really really fun car to drive. BUT..... I have always wanted (well not always but since 2001 ish) a 406 coupe. Finally I get one, although i have not taken delivery yet... I have to wait until after the bank holiday for that, plus the wife doesn't know I have bought it yet. One good thing is that it only has 2 seat belts in the back so that gets me out of doing the Guides run every Thursday :)
I know the 2.0 is not that quick, my remapped 206 was faster, but I am looking forward to comfortable cruising rather than a fun go-kart.
:)
Maybe I am getting old.. :)

You'll get plenty of that from any SE Coupe, that's for sure. The 2.0 is the least powerful Coupe, but it will still get you from A to B in style and comfort.

What colour is your Coupe?

Put the kids in the back & the "bite" will soon heal. I've been tempted quite a few times by coupes - got offered a 53 plate 2.2 with 45k for £2500 a couple of years ago - but insurance costs & the hassle of trying to stick my little man in his seat in the back conspired against me.

Has to be said though, I had the money out ready until we found out how much insurance was. Jack was going to be sitting in the front with Daddy!

Well the wife has seen the car... I am still here and physically able to drive still so thats all good :)
Have also found the paint code under the bonnet very well camouflaged but it tells me the car is Polaris blue, which i has guessed at before. But agean blue is very similar, to my eyes anyway. Maybe Polaris blue is just a tad darker?

Thanks for the warm welcome and I have already found some invaluable info.
