Hi I'm new

Post by matthewking »

Hi I'm new and have just bought my first 406, a 1996 2.1 GLX. I have a few things that need sorting but apart from that I'm really impressed, it handles really well and is very quiet on the motorway. Nice car! Cheers

I'm impressed it can pull such a large car, but it is quite nippy.

Another 2.1 owner here, great engines. Enjoy the car! And I'm sure we can help a bit with the niggles :)

Very sad news. My car was fitted with a Lucas fuel pump and it looked ill. If I drove the car hard diesel would leak out of it and pool around the block so I decided to say bye. The car was sold to an enthusiast who intends to fit a Bosch fuel pump. I will replace it ASAP and will share the details of my new 406 shortly after. Thanks

I have just bought a 2001 2.0 HDI GLX. It has Sat Nav and electric seats, my old car didn't have these. Like my last one it's done high miles but it was quite cheap. It' feels a bit tighter despite having done the same mileage as my last one. Is the HDI engine any good, it seems to be a bit better on fuel to be honest?

HDI engines are solid, though not as perky as the 2.1 you had. Needs to be driven differently. Nothing a remap won't solve though.

Is it the 110 or 90?
