Thank for all the useful posts on here that have been a great help so far. I'm not a mechanic but I enjoy having a go (and saving some cash) though my enthusiasm is dropping as the weather gets colder!

2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I too just about know a spanner from a carrot, but with guidance from this you can save cash and learn things on the way. Summer is better though, brrrrr
