New to the site, but not to Pugs
Thought I'd finally register after buying a D8 Coupe last year. It's currently on axle stands so I thought I'd read other peoples tales of woe to cheer me up

Hi Phillip and welcome aboard.
No shortage of tales of woe here, plus a few of the other kind. Feel free to chip in.
Post some pics when you can.

Hi Philip, welcome
I seem to remember something similar happening to mjb's coupe, he had to get someone out to cut a hole in the chassis rail, weld the nut solid and weld the hole back up againPhillipM wrote:Now one of the captive nuts for the subframe is spinning in the chassis leg

Re: Hello
Yep, the drill is coming out this afternoon
On a 20/20 hindsight note - if anyone else is having issues with one of the bolts (the other 3 came out easily), then I know it sounds harsh, but I'd go straight ahead and drill a small hole in the chassis leg by the nut and fill it full of penetrating oil first - you can always put a rubber bung in the hole after if you don't want to weld it up. It's a much neater solution than having to cut a flap open to weld the captive nut back in....

Sell it? I think I might give the fecker away
Calipers are sorted - well, after burning a seized bolt out with hot acid for a day or two anyway...
Re: Hello
Turns out you don't need to cut a hole in the leg at all to reattache the nut, in fact, if you're lucky you might be able to wedge the nut with a bar or similar, I've still had to weld mine mind is it's REALLY stuck
