Hello from Spain.

Post by ginger »

Hey, folks, ginger here. 8)
I've never really owned a car before, I've lived in this town now for 20 years using my bicycle, but I've always loved the lines of the Coupe, so when I saw this one I knew I had to save it.
1999, 2.0, 100,000 miles, one previous owner, all original (including cassette player  ) nearly immaculate body, MOT passed last week (too much handbrake lever travel, an easy fix I suppose)
A couple of minor problems, both bonnet struts are dead and both levers to tilt the seats are broken (not the levers, the linkage)
I'm sure that after I've had a good look around the forum you'll be hearing more from me. Thanks in advance. Laters.

Hello and a nice introduction post there! top marks.

I've recently fixed the rear seat access/lever issue on a Renner Twingo and it only needed a couple of expertly* placed tie-wraps to help guide the cable to the latch at the bottom of the seat. The mechanism is very much like a bicycle brake lever so you should be ace at fixing it :) hardest part was un-clipping the seat fabric from under the base to enable a good look at the thing.

Hmmm, I'm always distrustful of forums that aren't publicly readable, a bit elitist, methinks, but as you both own/ed coupes and advise it, join I will. Thanks. 8)

(after a bit of browsing, it seems my handbrake probably won't be as easy a fix as I thought, learning all the time...)

Hi Ginger

Welcome to the forum. I always buy estates but my son has 2.2 diesel Coupe and its an amazing car, nice to drive, fast, and will do over 60 mpg or whatever that is in litres/km. I'm very impressed with it.

Last I saw of the cnuts at the coupe club forum was when they put forth the idea of charging for access to HOWTOs, a number of which I'd written. Er, no.

Told them to delete mine and f*ck off!
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
